The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry comes with a 5.7L V8 engine that kicks out 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the 5.7L V8 with eTorque mild-hybrid assist will also be available for the BackCountry, providing up to 130 lb-ft of extra torque and better fuel efficiency. The Ram 1500 BackCountry comes with standard 4×4 in either a quad cab or crew cab setup.

Standard features that give the BackCountry its name come with the 4×4 Off-Road Group. These features include tow hooks, off-road-tuned shocks, hill-descent control, all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates for the transfer case, front suspension, power steering tank, and fuel tank. The Bed Utility Group is also standard with upper adjustable tie-downs, spray-on bedliner, bed lighting, and bed extender deployable bed step.
