Maintenance Tasks for the Fall:
Wiper Blades: Wet weather comes hand in hand with both the fall and winter seasons. Whether it is rain, snow, or slush, it is important that you have optimum visibility when driving and that is where your windshield wipers come in. Cracked and broken wiper blades leave behind streaky windshields that care hard to see through and that can lead to dangerous driving conditions. It is good to swap out your blades every six months and fall is a great time to do so!
Battery: Your vehicle’s battery is incredibly important, converting the chemical energy into electrical energy to start the vehicle and providing the electricity needed for the electrical components of your vehicle. The heat of the summer months can damage your battery in a variety of ways which can lead to trouble in the colder weather of fall and winter. You don’t want to come out of the office in the dead of winter to find a dead battery. Make sure to check on it now and if you are not sure what you are looking for, our mechanics can help you out.
Tires: With the temperatures rising and falling throughout the day during the fall and winter months, your tires are seriously affected. The weather has a direct impact on your tire’s air pressure which impacts your fuel economy and overall wear and tear. It is important to keep an eye on your tires and check the air pressure often to ensure you are not riding around with too much or too little pressure. You should also check the tread of your tires. You want the best traction possible during these seasons, especially when the weather turns and the driving conditions are less than ideal. If you need new tires, our service department is here for you!
Infrequent Vehicle Use: Most people still have to go to work or take the kids to school during the fall and winter months, but some people fly south and leave their vehicles behind. It is important that your vehicle still be driven or at least run during these months to avoid the battery dying and flat spots on the tires. Our service center recommends that your vehicle be driven around town for at least 15 minutes once a week or run for at least 15 minutes outside of the garage.
