Fred Martin Collision Center Helps Veteran Get Vehicle With “Keys to Progress”
Every November, Progressive Insurance hosts a one-day vehicle giveaway called “Keys to Progress” at Progressive Service Centers across the country. Progressive works with military and charity organizations to find veterans in need of a vehicle and with network of auto-body shops and national salvage companies to identify and refurbish vehicles for donation.
This year’s event, held on November 9th at the Progressive Service Center in Akron, marked the 5th year of the program. Since its creation, “Keys to Progress” has 500 donated vehicles to veterans and veteran organizations.
Fred Martin Collision Center was honored to be a part of this year’s “Keys to Progress” by donating all labor required to restore a 2016 Jeep Renegade donated by Progressive.
This year, the Akron Progressive Service Center selected Rachel Vasquez, of Toledo, as the recipient of the 2016 Jeep Renegade. Rachel served her country just short of 7 years in the United States Army. During her period of service, she was stationed in Afghanistan for one year.
Rachel is a single mom of 3 kids; Samuel, age 22, Jack, age 8, and daughter Vida, age 10. She is unable to work due to health issues, but does enjoy volunteering when she can. She enjoys going to Mass at her children’s school every Tuesday and has also begun providing tutoring services at her children’s school.
Rachel had been required to take a bus or walk everywhere. Our hope is that a new car will allow her to do more of the volunteering she loves and provide safe and reliable transportation for her and her family. We are excited to help Rachel Vasquez and her family as a small token of appreciation for her service to this country.
