4th Annual “The Jewelry Box” Benefitting ACCESS Women’s Shelter

February 11th, 2020 by

For the fourth year in a row Fred Martin Superstore proudly sponsored the The Jewelry Box, a unique fundraising event for ACCESS, Incorporated. The event was held the first weekend in November at the Fairlawn DoubleTree and featured over 30,000 pieces of donated jewelry. All costume jewelry was available for $5 per piece and professionally displayed, with a separate room for fine jewelry pieces that were donated.

Friday night kicked off the weekend festivities with an exclusive VIP preview event. This ticketed event gives shoppers first crack at the jewelry, music, cocktails, food and raffle prizes. Saturday afternoon was a shopping event that was open to the public. Saturday evening featured a “Happy Hour” event where jewelry was discounted to $1. This ticketed event included cocktails and dessert for a fun evening out. All three events from the weekend event raised nearly $37,000!

ACCESS, Inc. is a women’s shelter dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless women and children in the Akron area. The agency encourages the development of self-esteem and the attainment of self-sufficiency through its commitment of providing a holistic, safe and supportive environment, and through its programs of housing, advocacy and empowerment. Many women come to ACCESS with mental health issues, drug addiction, or are escaping an abusive environment. Most have children and are in desperate need of housing, healthcare, and a helping hand. In most cases ACCESS is able to assist these women and their families and get them on a path to success.

All proceeds from the event benefitted ACCESS and its community commitment to provide a holistic, safe and supportive environment to women and children in its shelter. Fred Martin Superstore was honored to be involved with such an amazing event, and an even more incredible organization. Thank you to all our employees that donated gently used jewelry.
