2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Chevrolet Blazer Akron OH
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Chevrolet Blazer
While there are many options within the midsize SUV segment, few have the same reputation as the iconic Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, positioning itself as the Grand Cherokee’s most formidable competitor, the Chevy Trailblazer holds its own with an aggressive exterior and selection of standard and available features. Selecting only one can be intimidating. But we here at Fred Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram would like to offer you an inside look at the Grand Cherokee and the Blazer to help decide which one is right for you. Please keep reading below to learn more!
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Capability
Customers can choose from three different engines for the Grand Cherokee. At the baseline, you have the Pentastar 3.6L V6 delivering 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If you prefer something with a little more get up and go, the 5.7L V8 has what you need, offering 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. To maximize fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance, Jeep’s all-new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain, titled 4xe, is now available for the 2022 Grand Cherokee. The 4xe system consists of a turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine, two electric motors, and a 400-volt rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. While supplying a fuel-sipping 56 MPG gas equivalent, the 4xe system also delivers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of immediate torque. 4xe is available for the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit trims. While rear-wheel drive is standard for most trims, the Grand Cherokee is eligible for Jeep’s Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Power is sent to the wheels through a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth gear changes and outstanding torque distribution.
2022 Chevrolet Blazer Engine & Drivetrain
People shopping for a 2022 Chevy Blazer can choose from two available options for engines. The Blazer’s standard equipment is a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine, putting out 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. To better compete with the Grand Cherokee’s base engine, you’ll want to step up to the 3.6L V6, which delivers 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The V6 engine is standard for the top-level RS and Premier trims, while optional for all others. Across the entire lineup, a 9-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels. While Chevy doesn’t offer 4×4 capability as Jeep does, the Blazer is available with all-wheel drive to offer better all-weather traction. Like the V6 engine, all-wheel drive is standard for the Blazer RS while optional for the rest of the lineup.
Design Features of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The redesigned 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee boasts Jeep’s rich history while staying with modern trends in the SUV segment. The history is captured by a sharp A-line creating a silhouette for the side profile, an instantly recognizable grille with seven slots, an elongated hood, and a tapered roofline. A touch of modern is added by a proximity key, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll discover premium cloth upholstery, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25-inch fully digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5 infotainment software, a full suite of advanced driver aids, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and LED ambient interior lighting. The entry-level Laredo trim includes all of this as standard equipment. Meanwhile, the rest of the trim level lineup adds more and more features to increase comfort, style, and capability.
2022 Chevrolet Blazer Design Features
As far as appearance goes, the Chevy Blazer is essentially the SUV form of the Camaro. The Blazer reminds us of the Camaro because of the flared rear end, sharp lines, grille, and slim headlight housings. A few other exterior features that come standard with the entry-level L trim include HID headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, and LED taillights. When you step inside, you’ll find analog gauges on either side of a 4.2-inch driver information display, push-button start, a urethane steering wheel, wired smartphone integration, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and basic driver assistance features.
