MotorTrend has named the Ram 1500 TRX its 2021 Truck of the Year. This win is the third in a row for the brand with the Ram 1500 earning the 2019 title and Ram Heavy Duty taking top honors for 2020. That’s quite an accomplishment. MotorTrend’s “Of the Year” award recognizes the best vehicles in each class. This accolade is one of the most coveted automotive industry awards and represents the pinnacle of an extremely competitive segment.

RAM 1500 TRX Revealed

Ram has once again upped its game with the reveal of the all-new RAM 1500 TRX. The TRX is noted for being the apex predator of the truck world as it comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque while connecting to the all-new Torqueflite eight-speed automatic transmission. The Torquefite transmission allows the RAM TRX to handle the access torque loads while the incredible horsepower lets the TRX tow up to 8,100 pounds.  In addition to all this power, the TRX also has several specific features to make off-roading a bit easier. Features such as Trailer Reverse Steer Control and a new Flat Bottom Steering Wheel provide drivers with the most control they have ever had in a truck. Additionally, there are over 100 active and passive safety features to help you keep safe both on and off the road. Bringing You The Power

The RAM TRX is the most powerful truck on the market thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The engine connects to a smooth Torqueflite eight-speed automatic transmission to manage the higher torque loads. With all of this power, the TRX can tow up to 8,100 pounds with a payload capacity of 1,310 pounds. The TRX can reach a top speed of 118 mph and can get to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds or less and the quarter-mile in 12.9 when the truck hits 108 mph. On the top of the engine is a  hood scoop that is responsible for 50 percent of the air entering the engine while the other 50 percent enters from the grille. This helps the engine maintain a colder state so that it doesn’t get overheated.

Features For The TRX

With an aggressive stance and nature, the RAM TRX is impossibly vast, with a muscular and robust body standing on top of it. On the bottom of the frame sits aggressive 35-inch Goodyear off-road tires. Sharp LED lights flank the front bumper that sets the TRX apart from any other truck on the road. There is a new flat-bottom steering wheel that enhances the driver’s handgrip with leather or optional suede as well as carbon fiber accents. The center console has been completely reimagined as it now includes more storage and a new performance-oriented floor shifter and wireless charging dock and five USBs. There is even a RAM TRX-specific transfer case with switches that are integrated into the dashboard along with a Drive Mode selector and Launch Control.

High-Performance Interior

While the RAM TRX has superior power and towing, it is also gorgeous and technologically advanced in the interior.  The RAM TRX comes in three different interiors, including premium cloth and vinyl, a premium wrapped leather and suede, or premium wrapped leather and suede with available red accents. Option for either the TR1 or TR2 Equipment Group provides you with an interior that is based on the RAM 1500 Limited and features things such as an all-black color scheme with leather and suede for a unique feel. Meanwhile, the front seats include enhanced upper bolster support and embroidered logos. The Drive Mode has been integrated into the dash and features four distinct off-road modes, including Normal, Wet/Snow, Off-Road, and Baja. There is even a Launch Control button that comes standard on the TRX.

What About The Tech Equipment

There is plenty of tech equipment here to make the RAM TRX special. All-new is a Heads-up display that can show up to five content areas at once, which now includes Lane Departure, Lane Keep Assist, adaptive cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, current speed, current gear, and speed limit. You can get the heads-up display with the TR2 Equipment Group and comes in full color with the Unconnect 12-inch touchscreen. Additionally, there is a custom specification plate located on the console lid that lists which engine is under the hood, the type of supercharger the RAM uses, and the specific VIN identification number.
