Available for the 2020 RAM is a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque which gives the RAM an 8 percent increase in horsepower and a 14 percent increase in torque making the 2020 RAM best-in-class. An option for the RAM is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 which allows the RAM to tow 12,750 pounds with a payload capacity of 2,300 pounds. The 2020 RAM also includes an EcoDiesel system which gives the heavy-duty pickup a distinct advantage in gas mileage when stacked up against the competition. This technology is available for the first time for the 1500 Rebel.

Also included is the introduction of a dual, high-pressure and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system which is a first for a diesel engine in North America. Redesigned aluminum-alloy pistons help improve fuel economy. These redesigned pistons use thinner piston rings and coating on the side skits to help reduce heat and friction. And finally, a new-generation brake system vacuum pump with low-friction blades will help contribute to the RAM’s fuel economy.
