2019 Ram 1500 vs 2019 Chevrolet Silverado near Akron, OH

Pickup trucks are the vehicle of choice for anyone looking to not only have extreme capabilities, but also a comfortable interior that every modern truck features. This is especially true with models like the Ram 1500, and the Chevrolet Silverado. That’s why, in the 2019 model year, we are making everything that much easier for you by comparing the 2019 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Both truck models have been completely redesigned, and while you’ll still easily recognize the models, they are now lighter and more aerodynamic than ever. Another perk is all of the added technology, which makes towing easier, along with regular driving situations. To better understand what other features these trucks have to offer, in order to help you figure out which one is best, we’ll be comparing the power capabilities, and the available and standard features. Keep reading down below to find out which truck comes out on top!

2019 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

In order to stand out in a packed full-size truck segment, the Ram 1500 has truly made a name for itself with reliable engine options. The first of these is the 3.6-liter V6 engine, which can pump out 269 lb-ft of torque and 305 horsepower. This engine gets the benefit of working alongside an eTorque mild-hybrid system, which helps to further boost fuel economy. The second available engine is the well-loved 5.7-liter V8, which generates 410 lb-ft of torque and 395 horsepower. You can add eTorque to this engine, however, the fuel economy is already impressive. In two-wheel drive you’ll get 15/22 mpg, and in 4WD you get 15/21 mpg. An eight-speed automatic transmission also further boosts the V8 engine, and further shows off the capabilities.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Chevrolet certainly knows how to add more engine options, and perhaps add more than are necessary. The Ram 1500 features two engines that are reliable, while the Silverado comes with four different available engines. While choice is important, we very much prefer companies to perfect their engines, instead of giving too many options. The first engine is a 4.3-liter V6, pumping out 305 lb-ft of torque and 285 horsepower, and matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Another option is a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which creates 348 lb-ft of torque and 310 horsepower and works with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The most powerful engine, which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, is a 6.2-liter V8. This engine can produce 460 lb-ft of torque and 420 horsepower.

2019 Ram 1500 Features & Design

A large perk of the 2019 Ram 1500 is the model lineup. These different models range from impressive workhorses to luxurious and comfortable commuters. The first of the available trim levels is called the Tradesman. Tradesman comes with 18-inch steel wheels, rear-seat USB charge ports, a 5-inch touchscreen display with a Uconnect infotainment system, a 6-speaker audio system, trailer sway control, vinyl flooring and upholstery, Bluetooth, a locking tailgate, an auxiliary audio jack, a rearview camera, cruise control, push-button ignition, and a 40/20/40-split folding bench seat. A few upgrade options include a spray-in bedliner, trailer brake control, a folding rear seat, an electronic locking differential, and cloth upholstery. Another trim to consider is Longhorn, which includes a leather-wrapped wood steering wheel, chrome side steps, a navigation system, automatic high beams, front bucket seats with upgraded leather upholstery, and a CD player. The highest trim, Limited, adds luxury features like premium-leather bucket seats, adjustable air suspension, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

Like the Ram 1500, the Silverado features many different trim level options. The first of these, the WT, is fairly bare-bones when it comes to standard features. These features include a seven-inch touchscreen interface, 17-inch steel wheels, a 6-speaker audio system with a USB port, a tilt-only steering column, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, air conditioning, and Bluetooth. Another trim, called the LT, features a steering wheel with audio controls, OnStar with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, an eight-inch touchscreen, a tailgate damper, an upgraded driver information display, LED headlights, and alloy wheels. The highest option, High Country, comes with many standard features. These features include heated second-row seats, 20-inch chrome wheels, wireless phone charging, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, a 7-speaker Bose audio system, chrome side step rails, blind-spot monitoring, and ventilated front seats.

Conclusions
