2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
The latest monster muscle car from dodge is the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon. The Demon’s 6.8-Liter V8 Engine cranks out a jaw dropping 808 horsepower, blowing the 707hp Challenger Hellcat out of the water. On top of that, and we aren’t joking, you can order a Demon Crate package that increases that power to 840hp.
All that power means the Challenger Demon demolishes a quarter-mile track in 9.65 seconds at a top speed of 140mph. That makes it the fastest and most powerful street car EVER built by an American manufacturer!
It is actually too fast, according to the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) who have officially banned the Demon from the drag strip. NHRA Vice-President of Technical Operations Glen Gray says “The Car exceeds their limits of 9.99-seconds and 135mph. A car that exceeds that speed would need a number of changes made to the stock vehicle in order for it to be accepted as safe for competition.”
So no need to fear, you can still run it on a drag strip with some aftermarket safety installation that meet the NHRA regulations.
The Air Intake hood scoop is another record breaker; the largest hood scoop of any production vehicle at 45.2 inches. It is also supposedly the widest body Challenger ever, while still being relatively light-weight. There is even an option to remove the passenger seats to reduce the weight.
The Demon will be available in 14 sporty-sounding colors like Maximum Steel and Octane Red. IT will also come with varying combos of premium interiors like Laguna leather seats and carbon-fiber panels. All the styling is caped of by the mean looking, horned demon-head logos positioned just behind the front fenders, in case other drivers were wondering what just flew by them.
The Demon official goes on sale this fall, priced at $84,995; and so far only 3000 are expected to be produced. We will have to wait and see if that number goes up with the high demand for this epic Challenger. For now, we have to just sit enjoy all the photos of this record-breaking beast.
